Note

Creating your own templates is currently available to Experimentalists. We’re releasing this feature gradually, so you may not see this feature on all platforms yet.

If you regularly reuse a project structure with the same tasks, sections, due dates, and other task attributes in Todoist, try creating a new project template. You can add the template directly to a new or existing project from the template gallery.

Create a template

To use a personal template from the template gallery, you'll first have to create one. Here's how:

  1. Open the Todoist project you want to save as a template.
  2. Click the three dots icon at the top-right.
  3. Select Save as template.
  4. Under About this template, add a description or change the name and color.
  5. Click Save. Your template is now saved in the templates gallery.

Use your template to create a new project

  1. Click the plus icon next to My Projects or your team name.
  2. Select Browse templates.
  3. In My templates, select a template.
  4. Click Copy to My Projects/[workspace name] to create a new project from the template.

Add your template to an existing project

  1. Open the project in the sidebar.
  2. Click the three dots icon in the top-right.
  3. Select Apply my template.
  4. Select Browse my templates.
  5. Under My project templates, select a template.
  6. Click Import to project.

Quick tip

When selecting Apply my template, any of your four most recently created templates can be selected to import it even faster.

Delete your template

  1. Click the Add icon next to your workspace in the sidebar.
  2. Select Browse templates. This opens the template gallery.

    Quick tip

Press the / (forward slash) to open the command menu. Then, type Browse templates to open the template gallery.

  3. Select the template from the My templates section.
  4. Click Delete at the bottom-left.

FAQ

You can create up to 100 project templates.

Currently, templates can't be shared with others.

For now, you can only edit the template’s name and description. If you wish to edit the content of your template, you need to copy it to an empty project, edit the content, and save it as a new template.
